Finally, after weeks of anticipation, New York Jets head coach Todd Bowles has confirmed Geno Smith as the backup quarterback.

Finally, and again, the man has spoken.

New York Jets second-year head coach Todd Bowles has confirmed that Geno Smith will be the squad’s backup quarterback.

For some fans, speculation has been running wild for quite some time about this very topic. Bryce Petty finished the preseason 32-of-56 for 481 yards, three touchdowns and one interception, prompting these fans to become intrigued by the No. 2 role.

Geno wasn’t overly impressive but maintained the faith of the entire coaching staff throughout.
