Check out this unbelievable goal from New York Islanders captain John Tavares as he sets up Frans Nielsen for the game-tying goal.
With the New York Islanders trailing 2-1 in the second period, Isles captain John Tavares did what John Tavares does: help others light the lamp.
Tavares set up Frans Nielsen on the man advantage at the 16:46 mark of the first frame. Both the stickwork and puck control were tremendous.
The Isles’ captain was named the league’s first star of the week after he tallied nine points in four games. After placing the blame of a rough patch on his shoulders just a couple of weeks ago, his recent play has propelled New York into the playoffs.
“There’s been some ups and downs, just as there’s ups and downs in a playoff series,” Tavares said before the series, via Arthur Staple of Newsday. “It’s about how you handle the ups and downs. I think we have a better sense of what it’s going to take.”
The Isles currently trail 3-2.
Tavares schooled Petrovic there. Dude got swerved so hard he forget which direction his stick is supposed to be in. pic.twitter.com/7f2ztkzAge
