Long-time New York Rangers’ singer John Amirante returned to MSG tonight. Who better than Amirante to begin the festivities?
By Chris Wengert
Tonight’s tilt between the New York Rangers and Boston Bruins is a huge game, and no one needs to be convinced of that.
So who better than John Amirante to kick off the evening?
Amirante was unceremoniously asked to step down as the full-time singer back in 2014. Fans were rightfully up in arms over the decision, as he has been apart of the New York Rangers tradition for decades.
Amirante, a true professional, kept relatively quiet as the drama unfolded.
But Mr. Amirante made a reappearance tonight at Madison Square Garden, and who better to kick off a Boston-New York game?
And what better way to honor Amirante’s return to MSG than a goal? Well the Rangers obliged, scoring a power play 10 minutes into the game.
Original Six? Rivalry Night? …of course it’s Johnny boy who shows up….#NYR#BOSvsNYRpic.twitter.com/5L61gXSx9J
