New York Islanders Snap Losing Skid With 3-1 Victory Over Ottawa Senators (Highlights)

Needing a win in the worst way to snap a four-game losing skid, John Tavares and the New York Islanders take out the Ottawa Senators 3-1.

  • New York Islanders 3 (39-24-9)
  • Ottawa Senators 1 (34-33-8)
  • NHL, Final, Box Score
  • Barclays Center, Brooklyn, New York

To say this one wasn’t needed would take somebody either quite delusional or somebody who’s been living under a rock for the last couple of weeks.

This victory was needed, very badly.

John Tavares led the way, tallying his 27th goal of the season in helping his New York Islanders to the 3-1 victory over the Ottawa Senators at Barclays Center tonight.

Matt Martin (8) and Brock Nelson (24) were the other Isles goal-scorers, and all three goals came in the second period after a scoreless first.

Jean-Francois Berube, filling in for Thomas Greiss and making just his fourth career start, stopped 22 shots for the win.

The two points moves the Isles to within just one point of the second-place Pittsburgh Penguins. They’ve both played 72 games apiece.

Next up for the Isles will be the Lightning in Tampa on Friday night.
