The only word coming out of today’s game for fans of the New York Rangers, is simple.

It’s frustration.

Not once did the Blueshirts have a golden opportunity to end the game, but twice. After Ryan McDonagh hit the post squarely from his own end on an empty net while killing a penalty, Viktor Stalberg just missed putting the game away by inches moments later.

It opened the door for Brad Richards to tie the game at 2-2 with just 32 seconds remaining in regulation.

With Keith Yandle doing his best job to screen his own goaltender, Darren Helm then tallied his 10th goal of the season in overtime to give the Detroit Red Wings a 3-2 win.

Henrik Lundqvist played brilliantly in his return to the lineup. He stopped 40 of the 43 shots he faced on the afternoon.
