Hold onto your butts New York Rangers fans, because the trade deadline anxiety has begun.
Eric Staal is now a New York Ranger.
The now Ranger forward has tallied only 10 goals this season but has play making potential.
It seems as if Jeff Gorton worked some magic on this deal, as the Carolina Hurricanes were reportedly asking for a first round draft pick. The Rangers are giving up two second round picks (2016/2017) in addition to Alexsi Saarela.
While giving up Saarela isn’t the best situation for the Rangers future, it’s a much lower asking price from what many suspected Gorton might give up for Staal.
