Despite being brutally outplayed at times, the New York Rangers struck first in Pittsburgh.
Kevin Hayes showed some serious patience on the play after finding the puck in the slot. A toe drag later, he found the back of an open net.

Daniel Paille also showed some awareness on the play as his leap in the crease allowed the puck to find twine.
The Rangers are lucky to have a lead in the game. Their power play looked horrible and the Penguins are pressuring the Ranger’s defense, causing multiple turnovers.
Marc Staal is having a particularly tough game as he coughed up the puck three times in the first five minutes.
