What do you get when you put together the two best teams in the entire NHL? The New York Rangers and the Montreal Canadiens. That’s what you get.

Only the Dallas Stars of the Western Conference can claim to hold as many points as these two Eastern powerhouses (34). Tonight under the bright lights of Madison Square Garden and Broadway, they’ll square off to decide who’s the very best as we come very close to turning November into December.

The strength for each squad comes as no secret. Henrik Lundqvist and Carey Price, each club’s backstop, are the bonafide leaders – and each is enjoying stellar campaigns up to this point.

Price, the reigning MVP, comes in sporting a ridiculous .933 save percentage and 2.10 goals against average.

Not to be outdone, The King – at 32-years old – could be experiencing the best start to any season in his professional career. He currently leads the entire NHL in both save percentage (.946) and goals against average (1.74).

“Going into every game I don’t expect us to play perfect for 60 minutes,” Lundqvist told the league’s official website. “As a goalie you need to be there when your team is not on their toes, like tonight taking some penalties early. But the fun part is once I take care of my part I know they’re going to get going. It’s a fun way to win games when you help each other out.”

The lineup for the Rangers remains status-quo. J.T. Miller will continue centering the third line as young Kevin Hayes moves up to the play wing with Derek Stepan and Chris Kreider.
