It’s almost impossible to come into a game as sizzling hot as the New York Rangers will do tonight. They’ll welcome in the Toronto Maple Leafs to The Garden riding an eight-game winning streak, taking points in their last 12 games played (10-0-2).

Their latest conquest came yesterday, as Henrik Lundqvist helped the Blueshirts to a thrilling shootout victory in Ottawa against the Senators. Much maligned Dan Boyle returned to the city of his birth to bury the game winner in Round 3 of the shootout.

Interestingly enough, the last meeting between these two Original 6 clubs marked the beginning of the rise for the Rangers and the fall for the Leafs.

Since the Oct. 30 3-1 victory for New York, the Rangers have taken control of seemingly everything. Remember, this was the game Mats Zuccarello picked up his first career hat trick in. Should the Rangers win tonight, it’ll give them 30 points, the most in the NHL.

Tonight, Alain Vigneault will use Dylan McIlrath in place of Dan Boyle, and Antti Raanta instead of Hank due to this, being the second game of a back-to-back.
