With Game 1 of the 2015 World Series finally here, the question surrounding New York Mets’ Yoenis Cespedes’s status begins to ramp up.

New York Mets outfielder Yoenis Cespedes is certain he will play in game one of the Fall Classic even if that means not being 100% healthy. The Mets star is nursing a shoulder injury that forced him out of game four of the NLCS.
“I feel much better. I’m not 100 percent, but I know I’ll be ready for Tuesday,” Cespedes told the media Monday afternoon. “The cortisone shot relieved the pain and inflammation. But even if I’m not 100 percent, I am certain I will play on Tuesday,” via Adam Rubin of ESPN New York.
“The doctor told me my AC joint is a bit swollen, and that’s why it hurt. It happens to many athletes, but it is not a serious injury, and will heal quickly.”
When Cespedes exited game four it was clear he was in a lot of pain due to the fact he could not lift his arm over his head.
Cespedes has been working out and taking batting practice in preparation for the Mets first World Series since the year 2000.
Despite his injury Cespedes continues to praise his teams chances of winning the series against the Kansas City Royals.
“Kansas City is a tremendous team, relentless, and they fight until the very last out, but they have not faced pitchers like the ones we have in our rotation,” the Cuban slugger said.
Cespedes plays a critical role in the Mets lineup and provides protection to every hitter in the lineup.
Game one is scheduled for 8:07 PM ET Tuesday night.
