To call what the New York Rangers did at the end of Friday night’s game anything less than an explosion of epic proportions would be doing it a grave injustice.

After Brandon Saad scored a power play goal with just 3:50 remaining in regulation, few thought the Rangers had any chance of winning the game. The crowd was hyped and the Columbus Blue Jackets giddy.

A funny thing happened though. New York absolutely blew up.

They scored two goals in 17 seconds and a third just a minute later.

First it was the rookie sensation Oscar Lindberg who was beautifully setup by J.T. Miller. Then Kevin Hayes picked up a cheapo on Sergei Bobrovsky and Mats Zuccarello netted his second of the game from the slot.

Henrik Lundqvist was workmanlike all night. He stopped 31 of the 33 shots he saw.

The Rangers will turn around quickly and host these same Blue Jackets Saturday night at Madison Square Garden during their home opener.
