The last eight games between these two clubs have all ended the same: A Mets victory. The part about tonight, on the other hand, is the pitching matchup. With young phenom Jon Gray the Rockies have the decided edge on paper against the old vet in Colon.
Gray did face New York on August 10 which saw him put up a stellar performance of allowing only a solo home run to Travis d’Arnaud through six innings.
Via ESPN:
“His mental makeup is outstanding,” catcher Nick Hundley said. “You can talk about the stuff all you want, but at this level, the mental makeup is as important as the stuff.”
The Rockies have lost eight of their last 10. First pitch is slated for 8:40 PM ET from Colorado.
