Now that it’s Friday, we allow the true madness of the 2015 MLB Trade Deadline to occur. Will Brian Cashman and Sandy Alderson act?
By Robby Sabo
It’s funny you thought you knew what craziness or madness was all about.
OK, so maybe as a New York Mets fan, you actually do. What’s transpired in your world over the last 48 hours has brought up the words “unprecedented” and “unbelievable.”
Still, today we’ll count down the hours until the official 2015 MLB Trade Deadline at 4 pm ET, and the only thing we’re assured is that a frantic pace will ensue.
Locally, we’ve seen both the New York Yankees and Mets make moves. Yesterday Brian Cashman picked up infielder Dustin Ackley for depth, and over the course of the last week we witnessed Sandy Alderson do a tremendous job in acquiring Juan Uribe, Kelly Johnson and Tyler Clippard.
Now that Carlos Gomez is gone and off to Houston, Alderson finds himself in a position of needing another bat.
Here’s some of the activity we’ve seen so far:
- Yoenis Cespedes Traded to New York Mets
- Kelly Johnson, Juan Uribe Traded to New York Mets
- Tyler Clippard Traded to New York Mets
- Dustin Ackley Traded to New York Yankees
- Johhny Cueto Traded to Kansas City Royals
- Ben Zobrist Traded to Kansas City Royals
- Cole Hamels Traded to Texas Rangers
- David Price Traded to Toronto Blue Jays
- Troy Tulowitzki Traded to Toronto Blue Jays
- Jose Reyes Traded to Colorado Rockies
- Scott Kazmir Traded to Houston Astros
- Carlos Gomez Traded to Houston Astros
- Mat Latos, Alex Wood Traded to Los Angeles Dodgers
- Shane Victoriono Traded to Los Angeles Dodgers
- Jonathan Papelbon Traded to Washington Nationals
- Brandon Moss Traded to St. Louis Cardinals
- Steve Cishek Traded to St. Louis Cardinals
- Aramis Ramirez Traded to Pittsburgh Pirates
- Gerardo Parra Traded to Baltimore Orioles
- Jonathan Broxton Traded to St. Louis Cardinals
- Mark Lowe Traded to Toronto Blue Jays
- Ben Revere Traded to Toronto Blue Jays
- Dan Haren Traded to Chicago Cubs
- Kevin Jepsen Traded to Minnesota Twins
With less than six hours remaining until the action stops, Twitter feeds are currently burning up the MLB world with the latest rumors and speculation.
The current word around the Yankees campfire continues the strong narrative that Aaron Judge, Greg Bird, Luis Severino and Luis Mateo are all out of any possible discussions, no matter how much teams inquire.
However, Jon Heyman of CBS Sports has also heard the phrase “we’ll see” uttered in regard to Craig Kimbrel being involved. The more times goes on without a deal, it seems more likely Cashman will stick to his guys and keep the youngsters.
3 says ago heard “no way” is jorge mateo being traded. today hear “we’ll see.” certainly be way to land kimbrel. #yankees

On the Mets front, Cincinnati Reds slugger Jay Bruce is all the rage, straight-up for Zack Wheeler.
Why? I have no idea.
To consider Bruce is a lefty (something the Mets have plenty of), and sports such a low average (.252) and on-base percentage (.325) during his career, Alderson might be wise to stick it out with what he currently has.
Update, 3:30 pm ET:
- Talks between the Yankees and Padres surrounding Kimbrel have broken down with under an hour to the deadline.
- Bruce is not in the Reds lineup tonight.
Update, 4:00 pm ET:
- Mets land Yoenis Cespedes during the 24th hour for two Minor Leaguers.
- Yankees stand pat
