PointsBet NY: Sports Betting App Launch & Promo Details

PointsBet NY
PointsBet NY

PointsBet NY will ultimately become a reality, but it’s not quite there yet.

PointsBet NY Sportsbook is not yet live in New York, but it’s surely coming. The favorite sportsbook of many was believed to be ready to launch on Friday, Jan. 21, 2022, in the exploding NY online sports betting that went live itself on Saturday, Jan. 8, 2022, at 9 a.m. ET, but it was not to be.

New users in an already-legal PointsBet state can take advantage of a phenomenal new-user promo that features two bets for up to $2,000 in risk-free bets.

How to sign up for a PointsBet Sportsbook account and get going is a relatively simple process that ESNY will help with every step of the way.

Click here to take advantage of PointsBet Sportsbook’s introductory $2,000 risk-free bets (two in total) and follow the steps below (once NY online sports betting officially opens for business):

  1. Complete the online registration that requires information such as name, address, email and date of birth (must be 21 years or older).
  2. Deposit at least $5 into your new PointsBet Sportsbook account via any number of offered deposit methods.
  3. Make two risk-free bets of up to $2,000.

PointsBet Sportsbook can be described as the underdog of the online sports betting world. The Australian-based company entered the U.S. market loudly with the backing of NBC Sports.

And now, PointsBet Sportsbook has entered the exploding NY online sports betting market.

PointsBet NY Launch

Prior to the actual launch, the most realistic go-live projection for NY online sports betting was before Super Bowl 56 (sometime in January)—a mark most pundits held on to for quite some time.

On Monday, Nov. 8, 2021, the state made one of its most substantial NY online sports betting decision to date. when it decided on the nine sportsbooks that would enter the market upon it going live:

“New York has the potential to be one of the largest sports betting markets in the U.S. and BetMGM is particularly well positioned to become a leader in the state given the strength of the M life customer database, close proximity of Empire City Casino to support our omni-channel strategy, and parlaying our already leading positions in nearby states,” said Adam Greenblatt, CEO, of BetMGM in a release.

The commission also approved FanDuel, DraftKings, BetMGM, Bally Bet, Kambi, Caesars, Wynn Interactive, PointsBet, Rush Street Interactive and Resorts World as online sports betting operators.

PointsBet Sportsbook’s uniqueness travels far beyond its PointsBetting feature that allows sports gamblers to win (or lose) more or less depending on the actual result of the game in question.

ESNY, PointsBet Review

PointsBet’s mobile app and website stand out as one of the best in the sports gambling industry. The responsiveness, navigation and overall ease of use can only be described as outstanding.

PointsBet’s dedication to information, including education around the sports gambling industry, is second to none. Its blog is a unique feature only a handful of other sportsbooks offer.

PointsBet Sportsbook Odds vs. Competitors Review: 4.5

ESNY, PointsBet Review

PointsBet offers competitive odds in a bunch of areas. PointsBet offers above-average NFL, NBA and NHL spreads. It also provides solid moneyline college football bets.

From an overall standpoint, PointsBet’s odds are similar to the other sportsbook powerhouses.

PointsBet Deposit and Cashout Review: 4.0

ESNY, PointsBet Review

PointsBet’s deposit methods are versatile. The bookmaker accepts VISA and Mastercard, as well as other traditional forms of payment (debit card and ACH).

PointsBet also offers the sports better a chance to sign up for a PointsBet Card. Users can sign up for one immediately after registration and use it just like a prepaid credit or debit card.

Perhaps PointsBet’s greatest negative is that it doesn’t offer the same number of payment options as other sportsbooks.

A New Way To Bet On Sports – “PointsBetting”

PointsBetting is a new and exciting way to bet on sports. The more you’re right, the more you win. The more you’re wrong, the more you lose.

If you win by one point (or unit), you’ll take home 1x the bet amount. If you win by two points (or units), you’ll win 2x the bet amount, and so on. If you lose by one point (or unit), you’ll lose 1x the bet amount, and so on.

NY Sports Betting History – How We Got Here

New York State FlagNew York isn’t there quite yet. While sports betting is legal in the state, the wait for the online and mobile app end of things continues despite several states launching online wagering platforms in the wake of the U.S. Supreme Court’s 2018 decision to repeal the nationwide sports betting ban.

July 2019 marked the first time New Yorkers could legally wager on sports (brick-and-mortar locations only). Rivers Sportsbook in Schenectady, the first place in New York state where it legally opened up for sporting events, opened on July 16.

Naturally, politicians were the first to place a sports bet. Gary Pretlow, chair of the state Assembly racing and wagering committee, placed a bet on the Seattle Mariners. Schenectady Mayor Gary McCarthy put his faith in the Boston Red Sox.

The conversation surrounding opening it up for online use is as heavy as ever, with Governor Andrew Cuomo taking center stage.
