New York Yankees trade Richard Bleier to the Baltimore Orioles

The New York Yankees have traded journeyman southpaw Richard Bleier to the Baltimore Orioles after DFA-ing him to make room for Chris Carter.
The New York Yankees traded left-handed reliever Richard Bleier to the Baltimore Orioles for cash and a player to be named later.
The team made the announcement on Tuesday, just five days after they designated Bleier for assignment in order to make room for Chris Carter on the 40-man roster.

Bleier maintained a 1.96 ERA in 23 appearances in the Bronx last season and allowed just six hits against left-handed hitters during his first taste of the majors (.150 BAA) as a 29-year old rookie.
After being selected in the sixth round of the 2008 June Amateur Draft from the Florida Gulf Coast University, Bleier appeared in in 241 minor league games over nine seasons between the Texas Rangers, Toronto Blue Jays and Washington Nationals.
Over those 241 games, the lefty maintained a 4.02 ERA and struck out just 507 hitters in 925.1 innings of work.
