New York Yankees, Dellin Betances to undergo arbitration process
The New York Yankees and Dellin Betances have not settled on a deal meaning they are bound for the dreaded arbitration process.
The New York Yankees were able to avoid arbitration with six of seven eligible players, but the one left off the list was Dellin Betances.
Didi Gregorius ($5.1 mil), Austin Romine ($805K), Adam Warren ($2.29 mil), Aaron Hicks and Tommy Layne were all given one-year deals while Betances and the Yankees are heading to arbitration negotiation.

This is almost like a “prove your worth” competition as for players, in years three through six (Betances has 3.078 years of service under his belt), can take their salary demands to an arbitration panel if they can’t reach an agreement with their team.
It’s a process many would like to avoid, as it comes down to two sides debating over the worth of a player.
Since coming into the league in 2014, Betances owns the most strikeouts (392) among major league relievers while his 15.53 strikeout-to-walk ratio led the majors in 2016.
Major League Trade Rumors projected his salary to be settled at $3.4 million, but Betances may feel like his performance out of the ‘pen as one of baseball’s best relievers warrants a little more dough.
Last season, the 6-foot-8 righty made $507K for his All-Star campaign. This offseason was the first year he was eligible for arbitration.
UPDATE: Per Jon Heyman, the Yankees have filed for $3 million while Betances has filed for $5 million.
