NBA postpones New York Knicks-San Antonio Spurs game
The New York Knicks are going to be off on Saturday as the NBA postpones their game against the Spurs in the wake of a COVID-19 outbreak.
The New York Knicks have yet to suffer any significant COVID-19 issues in their own locker room this season, but the rest of the NBA hasn’t been so lucky. The NBA is shutting down the San Antonio Spurs for three games following four positive tests which was first reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
This means the Knicks-Spurs game originally scheduled for Saturday is postponed. New York will have to wait for the second half of the season to play the Spurs, but they won’t have the weekend off entirely. The Minnesota Timberwolves are scheduled to play the Knicks in Madison Square Garden on Sunday.
The Knicks are on a three-game winning streak after sweeping a back-to-back over the weekend and besting the Atlanta Hawks on Monday night.
Julius Randle continues to make a strong case for the All-Star Game after scoring 44 points and drilling seven triples in the win. Not to mention, the Knicks are one game below .500 and in sixth place in the Eastern Conference.
As it stands, New York would avoid the play-in tournament if they can hold onto the sixth seed. It’s also worth noting that the Knicks are lined up to play the Brooklyn Nets in the first round of the playoffs. Of course, there are a ton of games left on the schedule, but the Knicks have all the look and feel of a playoff team right now.
