New York Jets head coach Adam Gase makes it known that safety Jamal Adams is still practicing with energy amid deadline drama.

A great deal of drama has arisen from the New York Jets organization over the past few days. Much of it has to do with All-Pro safety Jamal Adams, who general manager Joe Douglas fielded calls on prior to Tuesday’s deadline.

Even though Douglas wasn’t shopping him around to other teams, Adams was still hurt that the front office even listened to offers for him. The veteran has been criticized since, as the fielding of calls is literally just Douglas doing his job. Nonetheless, through all the drama surrounding the ballclub, Adams is energetically preparing for their Week 9 matchup.

“He’s focused on Miami right now,” head coach Adam Gase said Thursday, per Al Iannazzone of Newsday. “He’s flying around, same energy. I like the fact that he’s focused on Miami.”

Despite the controversial quotes from Adams this week, including the one of him comparing himself to Aaron Donald and Tom Brady, it doesn’t seem like this situation is affecting his play.

“I watched him practice yesterday,” Gase said. “I watched how he interacted with his teammates. He’s focused on this game.

“As long as he’s focused on this game that’s all I care about.”

The Jets reportedly listened in on an offer for Adams from the Dallas Cowboys, however, didn’t budge on it. Adams remains with the team as they head into their ensuing road matchup with the Miami Dolphins.

The Jets and Miami will meet this Sunday at 1:00 p.m. ET.
