New York Yankees 2B Gleyber Torres smashes grand slam against Red Sox (Video)

New York Yankees second baseman Gleyber Torres smashes a grand slam to give the Bombers a 4-2 lead over the Boston Red Sox.

Just like that, the New York Yankees turn a 0-2 deficit into a 4-2 lead.

After falling behind 2-0 in the top of the first against the Boston Red Sox on Friday night, second baseman Gleyber Torres smashed a grand slam in the bottom of the very same frame.

Torres, 22, is currently 1-for-2 in the game with the run and four runs batted in that came with the game’s second homer.

The first moonshot came courtesy of J.D. Martinez’s two-run shot in the top of the first off southpaw James Paxton.

After relenting that shot, however, Paxton settled in, earning a final line of two earned runs on two hits and three walks while striking out six in six innings of work. Tommy Kahnle relieved Paxton, pitching a clean seventh inning, giving up a single hit.

The score remains 4-2 in favor of the Bombers in the bottom of the seventh inning.
