It’s gameday for the New York Jets. Plus, we take a look at how good this Gang Green defense has been in terms of forcing three-and-outs.

This Sunday is the first one without hope. That’s because the New York Jets can, at best, finish as .500 squad. Also, with a loss, the Jets would officially be eliminated from the playoffs. All of their hopes and desires will fall upon a third-year signal caller with limited starting experience.

Former fourth-round pick Bryce Petty will be making his fifth career start for the New York Jets and the first this season. Petty is 1-3 as a starter. It’ll be tough sledding against one of the top teams in the league in the New Orleans Saints.

Luckily, Petty won’t have to do it by himself. He’ll have a stout defense on the other side. The defense does some things well, specifically, forcing three-and-outs.

One thing the Jets defense hasn’t done well is force turnovers. Three games and a big donut from the defense. Turnovers are the gateway drug to team success. If you get turnovers that create short fields for the offense to work with, it’s a beautiful thing and particularly important when a young quarterback is starting.

Don’t make this game all on Petty, help him with a healthy support system. This needs to be the mindset of all 46 active players dressed in green and white.

Final numbers: ESPN analytics have the Saints as a 93.1 percent favorite which translates to New Orleans being a 16 point favorite. The Saints have never been favored by that much in their entire history.

People call me Boy Green for my unwavering dedication to all things New York Jets. I work at The Score 1260 in Syracuse and I'm extremely passionate about sports. I aspire to continue my rise through the business and hopefully I'll end up working for the New York Jets in some capacity.
