Of course Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick had something to say to the media after knocking off the New York Jets.

Did you actually think Ryan Fitzpatrick would remain silent? Come on, now.

Part of what’s allowed him to remain in the not for long league so long is his fiery competitiveness and edge. When he performed well with the New York Jets, at times he’d slip a sly comment in for the New York media to digest.

Now that he’s successfully defeated his old team, an ugly 15-10 victory in Tampa on Sunday, no “slipping” is necessary. He just arrived straight to the point, via Rich Cimini of ESPN New York.

When asked about getting the ball to DeSean Jackson early in the game, the Harvard grad said, “The New York media knows I️ love to force the ball to my favorite guys,” he said with a laugh.

It was an obvious reference to the media jumping on him the last two seasons when he targeted one of his top two guys (namely Brandon Marshall) in a force-like fashion.

He also did admit that this one held more than the average run-of-the-mill Sunday.

“Just standing in the other sideline and looking across and just seeing — I️ mean, those guys that are still around that I️ played with, they’re not just teammates to me. Those are brothers. So it was kind of emotional standing on that side. … So it made it special to me to be able to win that game. But just to see them and compete against them was special, too.”

Fitzpatrick finished the day with 187 yards, one touchdown and one interception on 17-of-34 passing in the Bucs 15-10 victory.
