Two New York Yankees Prospects Selected To Triple-A All-Star Game

Two New York Yankees prospects were selected to represent the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders in the 30th-annual Triple-A All-Star Game.

The New York Yankees Triple-A affiliate (Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders) announced in a press release that outfielder Dustin Fowler and left-handed pitcher Caleb Smith will represent the organization along with manager Al Pedrique in this year’s Triple-A All-Star Game.

Fowler, who has reportedly been promoted to the majors, currently leads the team in home runs (13) and RBIs (43). In the International League, the 22-year-old ranks third in hits (87), second in slugging percentage (.542), second in extra-base hits (40), third in doubles (19), first in triples (8), total bases and fourth in runs scored (49).

Smith took home his seventh victory of 2017 on Tuesday by registering six shutout innings against the Syracuse Chiefs. Among International League pitchers, the southpaw ranks second in ERA (2.20), third in WHIP (1.02) and leads the league in batting average against (.205). In his 15 appearances (14 starts), the RailRiders own a 13-2 record.

According to the press release, the International League All-Stars will square off against the Pacific Coast League All-Stars at Cheney Stadium in Tacoma, Wash. on Wednesday, July 12.
