New York Jets head coach Adam Gase is looking forward to cornerback Darryl Roberts’ return to the field this Sunday.

Believe it or not, the New York Jets are one of the hottest teams in football right now. They’ve emerged victorious in their last three matchups and have a chance to win again this Sunday against the winless Cincinnati Bengals.

In an attempt to improve to 5-7 on the year, the Jets will be adding firepower to their secondary. Cornerback Darryl Roberts will be returning to the lineup after missing a trio of games with a calf injury. All-in-all, Roberts’ return can only benefit Gang Green.

“I think it gives us another guy in the secondary,” head coach Adam Gase said this week, per Zach Braziller of the New York Post. “I mean, they’ve been rotating all those guys in. Nobody’s really playing from the first snap to the last snap. We’ve been moving all those guys in, giving everybody playing time. [Defensive coordinator] Gregg [Williams’] got so many different personnel groups. The more guys we can have in the secondary, come on bring them in.”

The Jets have fielded the likes of Bless Austin and Arthur Maulet in Roberts’ absence. The last any of us saw of him prior to the setback was his three-tackle performance in the Week 9 loss to the Miami Dolphins.

Through eight games in 2019, the fourth-year defensive back has racked up 47 combined tackles, one tackle-for-loss, one quarterback hit, one pick, and five passes defended.

Roberts and the Jets will kick off against the Bengals this Sunday at 1:00 p.m. ET. The game will take place at Paul Brown Stadium in Cincinnati.
