The New York Jets have re-signed undrafted rookie safety Santos Ramirez and have waived cornerback Dee Delaney.
Gang Green has made a few roster moves as the final preseason game approaches.
The New York Jets re-signed safety Santos Ramirez this week. They previously waived him in order to make room for their newly-signed linebacker Stephone Anthony.
Ramirez originally signed with the Jets as an undrafted free agent out of the University of Arkansas. In his senior year in 2018 (12 games), Ramirez racked up 87 total tackles with .5 tackles for loss and one forced fumble.
Ramirez will once again work in as a free safety with Marcus Maye, Rontez Miles, and Doug Middleton.
Additionally, the Jets waived cornerback Dee Delaney. The veteran originally went undrafted out of the University of Miami in 2018. He played three years at The Citadel before using his last year of eligibility as a member of the Hurricanes.
Delaney spent time with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2018, having bounced around from their practice squad to their active roster. He ended up active for two games with the Jaguars last year.
Jacksonville waived him one final time on Dec. 3, 2018.
Delaney was claimed off waivers by the Miami Dolphins a day later. They then waived him on Dec. 8 and signed him to their practice squad. Delaney thus signed a reserve/future contract on Feb 1. of this year with Miami. He was waived on May 1.
The Jets originally signed Delaney on July 30.
New York’s final preseason game will be this Thursday at 7 p.m. ET against the Philadelphia Eagles at MetLife Stadium.
