At New York Jets training camp, one fan took Sam Darnold by surprise when he asked him to sign a Deshaun Watson jersey.

Signing autographs isn’t anything new for Sam Darnold. However, this is probably the first time anyone has asked the New York Jets quarterback to sign another team’s jersey.

One fan asked Darnold to sign a Deshaun Watson Houston Texans jersey at training camp on Sunday.

Darnold and Watson are two of the best young quarterbacks in the NFL. The Texan is looking to build off of his team’s 11-5 record from a season ago. Houston was bounced from the playoffs in the Wild Card round by way of Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts.

Darnold, on the other hand, is looking to make the playoffs for the first time in his career. He showed serious promise down the stretch of the 2018 season, but the inept Jets still finished 4-12. Darnold finished with a 17 to 15 touchdown to interception ratio.

Year two will be much different for Darnold and Gang Green. They brought in Le’Veon Bell to add some firepower to the offense. Bell is one of the best do-it-all backs in the league. The former Pittsburgh Steelers running back will be Darnold’s most versatile weapon.

Additionally, Gang Green is sporting a revamped offensive line with veterans Ryan Kalil and Kelechi Osemele entering the fold. The line will be average at the very least. Darnold’s feel in the pocket is one of his best traits.

His lone series in the team’s preseason opener against the New York Giants showed off all of his best traits. After nearly throwing an interception on his first throw, he settled down and led the Jets on a quick touchdown drive.
