New York Yankees outfielder Giancarlo Stanton makes a terrific catch over the wall in foul territory, stealing the out from a fan.

The New York Yankees were about an inch away from a Steve Bartman-esque play.

In a ball hit down the right field line by former New York Mets catcher Travis d’Arnuad, Giancarlo Stanton had to reach over the wall in foul territory. If the ball was just a little over to Stanton’s right, he probably would’ve been interfered with by the poncho-wearing fan trying to catch it.

Luckily, Stanton made the terrific catch and recorded the out to end the top of the second inning at Yankee Stadium.

Tuesday night’s game against the Rays is Stanton’s first since April 1. The Bombers slugger has missed 68 games this year, dealing with bicep, shoulder and calf injuries.

The other Yankees slugger, Aaron Judge, should return to the lineup in the coming days, as the Yankees keep progressing towards full strength.
