A New York Giants fan has compared co-owner John Mara to New York Knicks executive chairman and CEO James Dolan.
Well, it looks like the two Super Bowls John Mara won as the president and CEO of the New York Giants are a thing of the past. At least that’s what one fan believes.
On Tuesday night, Giants players, coaches, front office personnel and owners met with season ticket holders at the “Giants Town Hall” event at the Beacon Theatre. While at the event, Mara told the audience a story about how he recently received a letter from a not-so-happy Big Blue fan who compared him to New York Knicks owner James Dolan.
Not many Giants fans have been happy with Mara the past few years. They’ve gone 8-24 the last two years, so there hasn’t been much to be excited about. But this fan took it to another level.
“Let’s face it: you’re nothing more than James Dolan minus 50 pounds in a better-looking suit,” the fan wrote to Mara, per Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News.
Mara then responded that he, “appreciated the fashion compliment.”
Mara has taken a lot of heat these past few years. From how he handled the benching of Eli Manning to the trade of Odell Beckham Jr.
Many want to see the Giants part ways with Manning as well, something that Mara hasn’t taken charge and done yet.
At the end of the day, the event at Beacon Theatre was one where the Giants were able to connect with their season ticket holders, regardless if there were some boos for Dave Gettleman. Manning even told the audience the story of one of his all-time pranks on a teammate. Believe it or not, Eli can be quite the prankster in the building.
