Manny Machado wanted to play in the Bronx and didn’t receive an offer, but that didn’t stop New York Yankees fans from laying it on.
He wanted to be here and didn’t receive a formal contract offer, yet gets unmercifully booed anyway.
Yeah, that sounds about right in the Bronx.
Manny Machado, who wasn’t offered a contract by Brian Cashman and the New York Yankees this past offseason, found himself on the other end of a Yankee Stadium boo-fest on Memorial Day 2019.

Machado, 26, has smacked nine home runs to go along with 26 runs batted in and a .267 batting average 52 games for the San Diego Padres this season. His potential presence would seemingly fit like a glove, due to the incredible number of Yankees injuries, but the Bombers find themselves on top of the AL East.
The 5-2 victory over Machado’s Padres on Monday marks the Yanks eighth victory over their last nine tries. Machado could muster a single hit in the contest. For New York, Brett Gardner‘s eighth moonshot of the season in the second inning turned a 2-0 deficit into an even game.
Clint Frazier‘s team-high two hits helped pace the Yankees offensively. Gary Sanchez‘s eighth-inning solo shot put the icing on the cake.

For the second-straight rotational turn, Aaron Boone turned to the “opener.” Reliever Chad Green received the start, striking out the side in a perfect inning of work. Aroldis Chapman closed it out for his 15th save of the season.

The New York Yankees, Manny Machado-less and loving it, will get right back it with the Padres on Tuesday night from the Bronx.
