New England Patriots receiver Julian Edelman is fresh off a Super Bowl MVP and recently, he added insult to injury for New York Jets fans.

New York Jets fans have had to deal with their fair share of New England Patriots related misery over the last two decades. Most recently, a Pats Super Bowl victory added another nightmare to a string of never-ending despair.

At the Met Gala, Julian Edelman took a direct shot at one Jets heckler in front of Odell Beckham Jr. and Saquon Barkley.

“I’m a Jets fan,” Edelman said. “Every time we play them we win.”

The truth is always difficult to take. For Jets fans, Edelman’s not wrong. The Patriots have won 12 of their 16 games against the Jets with Edelman in the lineup. The last time the Jets beat New England was in Week 16 of the 2015 season, a game in which Edelman didn’t play.

Of course, the Pats are still the class of the AFC East, but the Jets might have a bright future with their new franchise quarterback. Sam Darnold showed flashes of brilliance in his rookie season and it finally looks like the Jets have a quarterback.

For now, there’s no way for the Jets to respond to this roast from Edelman. The Pats are Super Bowl champs and the Jets still have much to prove.

However, Gang Green travels to Foxborough to take on the Pats in Week 3 and will host New England at MetLife in Week 7. Edelman and the Pats have earned the right to talk junk about the Jets. Now it’s up to Darnold and company to answer the trash talk on the field.
