With their first pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, the New York Jets selected defensive lineman Quinnen Williams out of Alabama.

Williams played two seasons at Alabama, earning 91 tackles (including 27 for a loss) and 10 sacks. He partook in the College Football Playoff in back-to-back years. The redshirt sophomore earned a national title in his 2017 debut, as Alabam topped Georgia.

In terms of individual accomplishments, Williams was a unanimous All-American nominee last season. He also earned first-team All-SEC honors and an Outland Trophy as the nation’s top interior defensive lineman.

Williams is the highest defensive player chosen by the Jets in franchise history, tied with defensive back Jerry Stovall in 1963. He is also the first Alabama player to be chosen by the Jets since receiver ArDarius Stewart in 2017’s third round. Prior New York first-round picks from Alabama include Joe Namath, Richard Todd, Marty Lyons, and Dee Milliner.

Fans pining to see Williams clad in a Jets jersey didn’t have to wait long. New teammate Jamal Adams posted an edited work on Instagram featuring Williams in his new green duds.
