Le’Veon Bell has arrived. Of course, this constitutes a big-time aspect of the debut show. For four years and $52.5 million, the deal is considered a bargain in relative terms to the likes of Todd Gurley and others. But is it truly the right move?
Super Bowl champions never pay for the running back position. Since the New York Giants 2011 Super Bowl run, never has a top-three paid back been employed by a champion. Marshawn Lynch of the Seattle Seahawks represents the top-paid champion coming in as the fourth-ranked back during the blowout over the Denver Broncos.
Reliability is also a huge factor. Bell has missed an incredible 2.125 seasons of a total six throughout his pro career. When taking out his “business decision” season of 2018, he’s missed 1.125 of a possible five.
On the other side, Bell, the last time we saw him, was the unquestioned most talented workhorse in the NFL.
