From Coors Field to the Bronx, DJ LeMahieu is taking his talents to Yankee Stadium and the New York Yankees.

The 30-year-old free agent signed with the Yankees just days earlier and already knows his role in the Bronx. Inking a two-year, $24 million deal to don the pinstripes, LeMahieu is going to be one important piece to the puzzle in 2019.

LeMahieu took the time on Wednesday to chat with infamous radio host Mike Francesa on WFAN to discuss his upcoming role and just what his plans are in the Bronx.

“I feel pretty comfortable at third, short I can handle,” LeMahieu said to Francesa. “Honestly, I’m kind of excited to try out different spots and try to improve at all four spots.”

So it seems that LeMahieu will be packing a few different types of mitts alongside his numerous mittens in the move to NYC. And it seems like he’s all on board for that.

The three-time Gold Glove winner has looked to be a perfect signing on the surface. A pure contact hitter and a great utility player, this will be a slot that has been a desperate need for the Yankees, especially after Ronald Torreyes left town.

LeMahieu also chatted a little more with Francesa regarding the lineup in general, especially without Manny Machado anchoring it like reports have indicated long ago.

“I mean, (it’s a) heck of a lineup already,” LeMahieu said. “I feel like I can be a part of that lineup and not try to do too much, just play my game; put the ball in play, have tough outs.”

LeMahieu clearly knows his role and clearly seems incredibly excited for the prospect of playing multiple positions and he’s going to be doing so with a cast of pretty impressive characters.

So what does LeMahieu think of his new team?

“Heck, it’s going to be a fun lineup to be a part of, that’s for sure.”
