Although the NHL is often given less attention than other major sports in the US, having Snoop Dogg announce games could change everything.

Hockey lands very far down on my list of priorities when it comes to keeping up with the sports world. A recent Gallup poll lists American’s favorite spectator sports as football (37 percent), basketball (11 percent), baseball (nine percent), and soccer (seven percent).

Hockey doesn’t even beat out soccer, let alone come within reach of baseball or basketball. But if the hockey world wants to bring more fans into the sport, look no further than Snoop Dogg.

Yes, Snoop Dogg.

On Saturday night, the Los Angeles Kings made Snoop the guest of honor and they even brought him into the booth for the broadcast at one point. A melee broke out on the ice and fans were treated to Snoop Dogg announcing the scuffle.

Snoop trying to figure out what is going on is hysterical. It would have been better if the refs let the guys drop the gloves, but Snoop Dogg’s commentary doesn’t disappoint. The altercation ends with some “mushing” as Snoop calls it.

But Snoop wasn’t done. Snoop had way more time on the broadcast and he was a natural. And by natural, I mean he announces the game the exact same way my brain processes a hockey game.

Snoop Dogg as a hockey analyst is something that the sport of hockey needs. Bring Snoop to every arena in hockey and let him jump on the broadcast any time he wants.
