Jamal Adams and Morris Claiborne combine to help the New York Jets defense to a pick-six on the first drive of the game against Andrew Luck.
Wow. Now this is a way to start an NFL football game.
With the Indianapolis Colts receiving the ball first, Todd Bowles’s New York Jets defense took the field. On 2nd-down, Indy attempted a screen.
It was a disaster from the start.
Andrew Luck’s pass deflected off the intended receiver and then nearly into Jamal Adams’s breadbasket for a safety interception. Instead, the ball found its way into the soft hand of cornerback Morris Claiborne.
He did the rest for the easiest pick-six of his football career.

One drive later, Parry Nickerson dropped an interception. It was a killer due to the fact Luck responded on that drive with a touchdown to tie things up at seven apiece.
With 1:25 remaining in the first half, the Jets lead by a score of 20-13. Luck has since been intercepted once more, this time by Avery Williamson, leading to the Jets latest score (a Jason Myers field goal).
Sam Darnold has showcased an up-and-down game to this point. He’s currently 11-for-14 for 110 yards with one touchdown and one interception. The pick was a bad one as he let the ball fly early due to the interior of his O-line finding itself run over. Still, his throw fell way too inside of his intended target running down the sideline. His lone touchdown came in the red zone on a Terrelle Pryor inside hook.
The two teams are nearing halftime.
