The New York Jets need all the help they can get this season and now they could potentially have more trouble with linebacker Dylan Donahue.

‘Twas the night before preseason football and in the land of the New York Jets, Dylan Donahue was preparing for court instead of getting ready to play some football.

And he has no one to blame but himself.

It was reported by ESPN’s Rich Cimini that Donahue’s court date is set for August 9, which is the day before the Jets are set to take on the Atlanta Falcons to kick off their preseason.

Donahue’s court date is in regards to an arrest last year in Billings, Montana for a DUI charge. He also has another drunk driving charge when he crashed in the Lincoln Tunnel while driving in the wrong direction.

The 25-year-old linebacker was drafted in the 2017 NFL Draft by the Jets in the fifth round. Donahue didn’t play the whole season. In fact, he only partook in four games, where he registered five tackles.

He’ll be coming back this season from surgery and is hoping to make a big impact … that is, if all goes well in court.

But he is not the only one who seems to keep finding his way into trouble with the law. According to an article written by Cimini earlier this month, the Jets have had eight arrests in the past 18 months. According to USA Today data, this is the most in the sport.

Yikes. While the arrests seem to be a pretty common thing, it’s disappointing to see such a young, promising star already start to derail his Jets career before it truly even begins.

The Jets must hope for the best when it comes to Donahue, not only for this team as a whole. While the focus will be on Donahue, it should be on the football game the next day. Let’s keep it that way.
