NHL: Marc-Andre Fleury makes incredible saves vs Caps (Video)

If this Stanley Cup Final has brought us anything, it has been great goaltending. This time it was Marc-Andre Fleury’s turn to shine.

We all knew that the 2018 Stanley Cup Final would feature two of the most exciting teams in all of hockey. But, so far it is the goalies who are stealing the show.

It was Braden Holtby who stole Game 2 with a ridiculous save in the closing minutes. Now in Game 3, it was his opponent, Marc-Andre Fleury who would put on a goaltending show.

Fleury got a piece of the Alex Ovechkin shot with the glove in the opening minutes on a two-on-one opportunity. It’s a big save, especially considering the circumstances. Vegas had lost Game 2 and it would have been inexcusable to fall behind that early in Game 3.

That wasn’t all, Fleury had in him in this one though. Washington had a quality scoring chance after quality scoring chance all throughout this game. If not for Fleury’s heroics, who knows how badly Vegas would be down in this one.

Despite allowing the goal at the end of the play, Fleury would have to make multiple saves just to allow Vegas a chance.

But this is nothing new for Vegas. Fleury has been responsible for bailing out the Golden Knights several times this postseason. He has been a major reason for the Knights making their run to the Stanley Cup Final, posting a 1.88 goals-against-average in the playoffs entering Game 3.

Despite the strong showing, Fleury’s heroics were not enough as Vegas dropped Game 3 3-1 to the Caps. They’ve lost back-to-back games for the first time this postseason, and trail the series 2-1.

The bright side for Vegas is that Fleury continues to play the role of hero. Should he continue to make saves like this, they won’t be down for too long.
