Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield has scheduled a visit and a workout with the New York Jets and others as the NFL Draft approaches.

The New York Jets are interested in Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield as they have scheduled a visit with the 2017 Heisman Trophy winner.

Mayfield told Robert Klemko of the MMQB that after meeting with the Jets at the NFL Scouting Combine, he will visit the team at their Florham Park headquarters for a workout.

“You get a small window with them” at the combine,” Gang Green’ general manager Mike Maccagnan said, per Rich Cimini of ESPN. “In some cases, you get more exposure to these players when you go to their pro days and you’re around them in that environment. Sometimes you’ll schedule private workouts with them. Sometimes we’ll bring them in for visits at our facility, so we get a lot more opportunities to see them.”

In addition to the Jets, Mayfield will be visiting with the New York Giants and the Cleveland Browns. The quarterback will also be working out for the Browns, Miami Dolphins and the New Orleans Saints, according to Dan Parr of NFL.com.

Mayfield is one of the top quarterback prospects in this year’s draft. The Jets are in need of a quarterback, but are going after Kirk Cousins. If the Jets miss on Cousins, they can easily set their sights on a loaded draft class with names such as Josh Allen, Sam Darnold or Josh Rosen (in addition to Mayfield).

Mayfield will probably go to the Browns, Saints or Dolphins if they Jets don’t draft him. It is very unlikely the Giants select him at No. 2 due to the idea Dave Gettleman seems to be passing that idea up and they have Davis Webb as a comfortable backup. In addition, despite the scheduled visit, Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News claims the Giants aren’t all that interested in Mayfield.

Gang Green has the sixth pick in next month’s draft.
