Kristaps Porzingis brought some of the cold weather from New York to South Beach, as the Knicks continue to lose away from Madison Square Garden.

The Knicks came to Miami desperately seeking a win, with ten of their next 13 games on the road. Unfortunately, Kristaps Porzingis came up short, finishing the first half with just four points, and ending the game with 15 points on 5-of-14 shooting from the field.

The last time these teams met, the Knicks handled the Heat at Madison Square Garden. Porzingis left the game with an ankle injury, but Enes Kanter and Courtney Lee powered the Knicks to a blowout win.

Flash forward to Friday night, the Heat came ready to play. Wayne Ellington hit six threes and seemed to place well-timed daggers in the heart of every Knicks’ rally. Ellington finished the game with 24 points, and both Tyler Johnson and Goran Dragic, who were effective in transition, finished in double digits as well with 16 points and 19 points respectively.

The Knicks, to their credit, hung tight, with great individual defense from Lance Thomas. Lee and Kanter were once again aggressive in looking for their shots. Lee poured in 24 points and Kanter chipped in with 14 points and 8 rebounds.

The Knicks began the fourth quarter on a run led by a four-point play from Doug McDermott and instant offense from Michael Beasley. McDermott later sent the game to overtime with a huge three-point shot from the corner.

Beasley, continued his offensive onslaught on the rest of the NBA, producing a very efficient stat line of 20 points on 8-of-11 shooting, coupled with 10 rebounds in 23 minutes of action.

A key injury in overtime, Beasley, left the game with the Knicks up by two. Yet, after a huge three from Dragic, the Heat never looked back and handed the Knicks their third straight loss and seventh loss in their last eight games.

The Knicks will look to end the skid when they face off against Dennis Smith Jr. and the Dallas Mavericks this Sunday.
