New York Jets rookie star Jamal Adams is thoroughly enjoying the Rose Bowl. So much so that he likes what he sees from Oklahoma star Baker Mayfield.

New York Jets rookie star Jamal Adams says 2018 is his year. For that prophecy to be realized the Jets are going to need a franchise quarterback.

Now that the Jets season is over Adams has some time on his hands and he’s using at least some of it to enjoy the Rose Bowl on New Year’s Day. One player has stood out so far in Adams’ mind and that’s Oklahoma star, Baker Mayfield.

Jamal, that’s something we have in common. ‘Broadway’ Baker is an electric talent and should be one of the first quarterbacks taken in the 2018 NFL Draft. The Jets currently own the sixth overall pick, although Mayfield may not be waiting there.

Would the Jets be willing to trade up to ensure they get their man? According to ESPN Insider Rich Cimini, the Jets are intrigued by the top-two quarterbacks in Sam Darnold and Josh Rosen, but apparently also have interest in Wyoming’s Josh Allen.

Although if the Jets haven’t done their homework on the first ever walk on Heisman winner, they still have a few months to go over the tape. Fortunately for them, because of Mayfield’s spectacular play, they are awarded some additional play thanks to their participation in the College Football Playoff.

The open criticisms of his scouting report cite his lack of prototypical size for the position and some maturity issues that have been revealed this season. Although depending on your perspective it can either be cited as immaturity or fiery passion.

I lean towards the latter and so does Jets star, Jamal Adams, apparently. Although it’ll be Todd Bowles and Mike Maccagnan’s decision at the end of the day, we’ll have to see what happens.

People call me Boy Green for my unwavering dedication to all things New York Jets. I work at The Score 1260 in Syracuse and I'm extremely passionate about sports. I aspire to continue my rise through the business and hopefully I'll end up working for the New York Jets in some capacity.
