Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek burned a contestant and the San Francisco Giants by reminding him who didn’t win the World Series this year.
If you’re a contestant on Jeopardy and you talk about baseball, then you’d better be careful about what you say. Because if you’re wrong, you could get burned by host Alex Trebek.
On Tuesday’s show, contestant Tim Aten said that after winning a previous episode he received support from all over the internet.
“One of them was from Hunter Pence, World Series champion,” he said. “For the Giants?” Trebek replied. Aten said “yeah,” to which Trebek quipped “but not this year.”
Burn!
Trebek knows his baseball and Aten, who I assume is a San Francisco Giants fan, wasn’t paying attention. I’ll take San Francisco Giants fans aren’t attentive for $1000, Alex. However in Aten’s defense, Pence has won two World Series title with the Giants, just not this year. Pence responded on Twitter saying he got wrecked by Trebek.
@Jeopardy I’ll take “Got Wrecked by Alex Trebek” for $1000, Alex. https://t.co/fJV5WjAoCP
