Why? Celtics fans want answers to that question. Why trade Isaiah Thomas? Thanks to a young fan, they finally got their answer.
Fans always question the moves that their favorite teams make. Friday, a young Boston Celtics fan named Shane asked head coach Brad Stevens why he traded Isaiah Thomas.
As you’d expect, the question was met with raucous applause from the audience.
“What he did in Boston the last two-and-a-half-years has been incredible,” Stevens replied. “I said earlier what he’s meant to me, what I think of him, how great he’s been in the locker room, what kind of teammate he’s been and those are really, really, really hard decisions. That’s the hard part about being a professional basketball coach.”
Thomas may have been with the Celtics for just two seasons, but he made the All-Star team both years and was named to the All-NBA Second Team last year. He averaged 28.9 points, 5.9 assists, and 2.7 rebounds in the 2016-17 season, helping the Celtics to a 53-29 record.
Looks like Shane has a future as a sports reporter.
