Apparently, the Knicks won’t get a chance to sell Jeff Teague on coming to New York. He’s reportedly already committed to the Timberwolves.

ESPN’s Ian Begley reported that the Knicks and Jeff Teague had mutual interest after Phil Jackson was canned earlier this week. Apparently, the point guard wasn’t a triangle fan.

Well, that means nothing now because Teague has reportedly committed to play elsewhere.

ESPN’s Marc Stein states that the Knicks have already “abandoned their hopes of meeting with Teague” because they’re “convinced he’s already committed to Minnesota.”

The deal is an estimated three-year, $55 million for Teague. That’s a nice chunk of change that the Knicks would’ve had trouble matching.

That’s right. Jeff Teague is spurning the Knicks for Tom Thibodeau and the Minnesota Timberwolves. New York is losing out on free agents to Minnesota.

That has to feel good for Thibs. He couldn’t get an interview with Phil Jackson last summer, and now he’s snaking free agents from the team where he used to be an assistant coach.

The Knicks move on in their quest for a point guard. Names like Rajon Rondo and George Hill are becoming popular.
