Mike Maccagnan and the New York Jets have officially signed rookie tight end Jordan Leggett and Josh McCown likes the young quarterbacks.
Hope spring’s eternal, this has always been the famous phrase for the National Football League around this time.
Actually, what in the world am I talking about? It’s May 19 and the New York/New Jersey Metropolitan area was damn near summer today — 90 degrees. Spring is basically gone and this isn’t baseball.
The Mets and Yankees are in full swing, so Hope certainly does not spring eternal anymore. That’s a phrase simply reserved for fans of the New York Jets, who are contemplating how to get through a 16-game schedule in 2017 sure to be filled with sorrow and heartache.
For now, the club’s record is highlighted with zero losses. Also, for now, we can allow ourselves to become excited over rookie signings.
The next such signing has come in the form of fifth-round tight end Jordan Leggett, from Clemson. On Thursday, Mike Maccagnan and the Jets inked the starting Y hopeful to an entry deal.
TE Jordan Leggett has signed his rookie contract.

“The way Coach Morton used the tight end at the Saints, it’s definitely a position that’s going to be there this year,” he said. “I’m excited for my chance, excited to be here, and I’ll just go out there and fight to make the team and play on Sunday.”
