It appears New York Jets GM Mike Maccagnan snagged his next quarterback by agreeing to terms with free agent quarterback Josh McCown.

It appears the New York Jets have found their starting quarterback for the 2017 season.

Josh McCown‘s agent took to Twitter to break the news.

The Jets will pay McCown six million dollars as a base salary, with an additional two million dollars in playtime incentives and five million in team-based incentives, according to Albert Breer.

McCown started in only three games for the Cleveland Browns last season. He threw for 1,100 yards, six touchdowns and six interceptions. A career journeyman, this will be McCown’s seventh NFL team.

It remains to be seen whether or not McCown will start for the Jets or serve as a mentor for the Jets’ young quarterbacks. In an ideal world, McCown will compete for the starting quarterback position against Bryce Petty and Christian Hackenberg.
