Paul Pierce Says Golden State Warriors ‘Choked’ in NBA Finals

Paul Pierce appeared on HBO’s Any Given Wednesday with Bill Simmons and was asked by the host about last season’s NBA Finals.

When Paul Pierce retires at the end of the season, he’ll go down as one of the most underrated players of his era. As great as Pierce was, he was always overshadowed by peers like Kobe Bryant and Tim Duncan.

The 39-year-old small forward worked hard to get the championship he has now. It wasn’t until Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett were traded to the Boston Celtics just in time for the 2007-08 season (Pierce’s 10th in the NBA) that Pierce was able to garner the respect that comes with a ring.

Maybe that’s why he seems to have a problem with what is going on with the Golden State Warriors.

Pierce appeared on HBO’s Any Given Wednesday With Bill Simmons and of course the Warriors were brought up. Simmons asked Pierce if he thought the Cavaliers earned their title last season or did the Warriors choke?

Pierce paused for a minute before unloading on everyone’s favorite targets.

“Golden State choked! Like, seriously? 3-1? 3-1? You’re not supposed to lose. 3-1 you should never lose. Golden State choked.”

It’s not the first time that Pierce has gone after the Warriors. He made his feelings about Kevin Durant‘s decision to chase a ring very clear.

And now we wait. For Draymond Green’s response of course.
