3B – Danny Valencia
Many people have questioned Valencia’s character and composure for quite some time.
A report by John Harper of the NY Daily News suggested that, on the Twins, veterans like Michael Cuddyer would have to pin Valencia down to put him in his place. It was also suggested that after the Mets were interested in acquiring Valencia to fill in for David Wright, but character concerns ultimately kept them from making the move.
The rumors about Valencia’s character were seemingly confirmed earlier this week when Valencia gave teammate Billy Butler a concussion. Butler was said to have been telling an endorsement rep how Valencia breached his contract, and Valencia then got hot at his teammate.
Now, was Butler being a jerk? Sure. But does someone with a normal temper sock him in the head? No. Welcome to the Rage-Stars, Mr. Valencia!
