The New York Yankees are positioned to lend a hand to former world champion ‘Doc’ Gooden should he seek help with a drug addiction.

With recent reports indicating that Dwight Gooden is in the midst of a drug abuse problem, the New York Yankees are ready to aid him in any way possible.

According to the NY Daily News, the Yanks will fund his rehab efforts should he go that route.

Former teammate Darryl Strawberry recently showed genuine concern for Gooden, who is apparently in a horrific state of addiction.

The recent move by the Yankees shows a loyalty to their own, making sure he has knowledge of the options that can save his life.

Gooden had two stints with in the Bronx, pitching in pinstripes in 1996 and 1997, and once again in 2000.
