MLB: Ranking The Potential AL MVP Candidates

3. Josh Donaldson

Current 2016 stats: .307, 24 HR, 70 RBI

Projected: .307, 40 HR, 117 RBI

Following an absolutely terrific 2015 AL MVP campaign, the 30-year-old has not missed a beat in 2016. One of the sole reasons the Blue Jays currently remain a playoff team, his 70 RBIs and 1.017 OPS speaks for itself.

The third baseman’s position in the voting is subject to change based on whether Toronto comes out on top in the AL East or fall out of contention altogether. Ultimately, it will be Donaldson’s continued role in their success that determines his place.

With that being said, there is a decent chance he will be bringing the rain once again this year.
