So it begins.

Now that the Kentucky Derby is over, the Triple Crown discussion officially commences.

In 2016, it will revolve around the undefeated Nyquist.

Nyquist won the 142nd running of the Kentucky Derby on Sunday. He did it with jockey Mario Gutierrez riding him, the same man who rode I’ll Have Another, the derby champion back in 2012. Trainer Doug O’Neill and owner Paul Reddam also led the campaign for I’ll Have Another in 2012.

Nyquist held off an incredible close by Exaggerator – one of the other favorites in the race.

This latest win pushes Nyquist’s record to a perfect 8-0. Next up will be the Preakness Stakes in two weeks.
