With Christmas Day finally here and the matchups plentiful, it’s time for the NBA season to get ramped up in the Metropolitan area.

It’s the holiday season and there are plenty of NBA teams whom are in need of a Christmas miracle. With a quarter of the season in the books, it has become easier to gauge how each teams season how play out. For now, let’s just take a look at our Christmas edition of the NBA power rankings.

The Western Conference is not the juggernaut we once thought it would be with two teams clearly standing out above the others, while the vastly improved Eastern Conference still boasts no one that can provide a legitimate challenge to LeBron James.

When Bleacher Report does their power rankings they use a statistic called Net Rating which measures a team’s point differential per 100 possessions. So, I’ve decided it would be best to use their brilliant technique in this post as well. It’s important for power rankings to take into account more than just a team’s overall season performance — as important as that is — and look at how the team has played recently.

While using elements of B/R’s patented method, I have decided to implement some new twists that I hope you will all enjoy. Merry Christmas everbody!
